Woman struck by train in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating after a woman was struck by a train in north St. Louis Friday evening.

The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. near Gladys and Summit Avenues in the North Pointe neighborhood.

According to police, the woman was standing on the tracks when she was struck. It is unclear why she was on the tracks and why she was struck, police said.

When she was transported to the hospital, she was said to still be conscious and breathing. She is expected to be okay.

A neighbor living near the scene tells us the woman was dancing on the train tracks and neighbors tried to get her off of the tracks before the train arrived.
