Will there be fireworks tonight? Examining the rain risk

ST. LOUIS – As mentioned previously, a third round of storms is expected in the St. Louis region this evening, bringing an increased risk of heavy downpours and some isolated severe weather.

For the St. Louis metro area, we should be able to get our fireworks shows in before the rain gets here, but it’ll be close.

For communities south of Interstate 44 in Missouri, the risk of rain and storms ramps up a little earlier, which could threaten fireworks time. It’ll be a very close call with this rain and storm threat back on the move.

Some fireworks displays, especially in Illinois, may be able to get in ahead of the storms, but be ready to adjust plans.

Heavy rainfall returns once again tonight. Following the last couple nights of rain, this could see a return of flash flooding for our Friday headlines.

We will dry out Friday, with highs in the mid-80s. The weekend looks nice, with temperatures in the upper 80s Saturday and the low 90s Sunday. Storm chances return Sunday night.
