Vehicle crashes after shooting; 2 women injured



ST. LOUIS – Two women were wounded after the car they were riding in was shot at overnight and crashed.

According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department report, the shooting happened around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of South Jefferson Avenue, which is located on the dividing line of the Gate District and Lafayette Square neighborhoods.

A 49-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to her left temple. A 27-year-old was shot in the leg. A third woman in the car was not struck or injured.

Police claim the women were in the same car when people in a dark-colored sedan started shooting at them. The victims’ car then struck a light pole.

The women who were shot were taken to the hospital and are listed in critical condition.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
