These are Golfweek’s top public and private golf courses in the St. Louis area



ST. LOUIS – Looking for a new golf course to try this summer? Look no further than the St. Louis metro, where professional golf writers endorse several public and private golf courses.

GolfWeek released two lists earlier this month naming the best public golf courses and private golf courses in each U.S. state. Between Missouri and Illinois, there are six golf courses recognized among the best in the St. Louis area.

Many of these courses our not only recognized for their golf gameplay experience, but also scenic views and top-notch amenities.

GolfWeek praised these local courses in its recent state rankings:

PUBLIC

  • Missouri Bluffs Golf Club – St. Charles, Missouri (9th out of Top 10 ranked)
  • Annbriar Golf Course – Waterloo, Illinois (14th out of Top 15 ranked)

PRIVATE

  • St. Louis Country Club – Ladue, Missouri (1st out of Top 5 ranked)
  • Bellerive Country Club – Town & Country, Missouri (2nd out of Top 5 ranked)
  • Old Warson Country Club – Ladue, Missouri (3rd out of Top 5 ranked)
  • Norwood Hills Country Club – St. Louis County, Missouri (5th out of Top 5 ranked)

For public golf courses, GolfWeek says “The courses on this list allow public access in some fashion, be it standard daily green fees, through a resort or by staying at an affiliated hotel. If there’s a will, there’s a tee time .”

For private golf course, GolfWeek says, “All the courses on this list are private and don’t accept daily-fee or resort play.”

Also of note in Missouri and Illinois…

  • Big Cedar Lodge in Hollister, Missouri was named the state’s top public golf course.
  • Cog Hill Golf Club in Lemont, Illinois was named the state’s top public golf course.
  • Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois was named the state’s top private golf course.
