The Bold Raid on St. Nazaire #shorts

Operation Chariot was a daring British commando raid on March 28, 1942, aimed at the Normandie dry dock in St. Nazaire, France, which was under German occupation. Using a modified destroyer, HMS Campbeltown, the British packed it with explosives and rammed it into the dock gates. Commandos then launched an assault on the surrounding defenses. Despite intense resistance and significant casualties, the raid was successful because hours later, the timed explosives on the Campbeltown detonated, destroying the dock and rendering it unusable for the rest of the war. #shorts
