Texas woman dies, two others hurt in north St. Louis County crash

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Texas woman died and two others were hurt overnight in a crash in north St. Louis County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP reports that Rosa Rodriguez, 55, of Amarillo, Texas, died in the crash. Next of kin has been notified.

The crash happened around 10 p.m. Friday in the westbound lanes of Interstate 270, just west of New Florissant Road.

A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol states that a driver in a GMC Sierra lost control of his vehicle, ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a concrete median barrier. As his vehicle returned to the roadway, he reportedly crossed over a lane and struck the left side of a vehicle that Rodriguez was driving.

Both vehicles then traveled off the roadway upon impact and struck a concrete wall. The crash report states that Rodriguez’s vehicle struck a guardrail moments later, and she was later ejected from the vehicle.

Rodriguez later died from her injuries. One passenger in her vehicle, a 50-year-old man, and the driver who reportedly struck her vehicle, a 42-year-old man, are both hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the crash report.

MSHP Troop C, which covers much of the St. Louis region, is investigating the crash.
