Suspect in custody after Normandy standoff last night

NORMANDY, Mo – Normandy police received a call to a home that turned into an hours-long standoff between authorities and a man barricaded inside the house late last night.

The standoff lasted several hours, from last night into early this morning. It ended with authorities removing the man from the home.

At around 12:30 a.m., Normandy police carried the man out of the home, eventually putting him on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

The man appeared to be distraught. The standoff did end peacefully in the sense that no shots were fired and no injuries were reported by police.

There was a large police presence at the scene on Colton Drive in Normandy, just off Bermuda and I-70.

The episode started about seven thirty last night. Authorities tell FOX 2 Normandy police were called to the scene for a report of a sexual assault in progress.

FOX 2 was told that when officers got there, they were able to remove a female victim from the home, but the man barricaded himself inside.

That’s when the standoff started. Officers from several departments responded to the scene.

Besides Normandy police, authorities from Clayton, St. Ann, St. Louis County, the North County Police Cooperative, and the Missouri Highway Patrol were all there.

FOX 2 has reached out to Normandy police for more details. At this point, we have not yet heard back.
