St. Louis police say ‘comprehensive security measures’ in place for Pride Fest



ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department says “comprehensive security measures” will be in place for Pride Fest this weekend in Downtown St. Louis.

Police say they are working closely with event organizers and their security team in preparation for the two-day event. holding discussions for several months ahead of the event.

Pride Fest has drawn up to 300,000 people between both days in previous years.

“Your safety is our concern, and we are dedicated to ensuring a secure environment for all,” said SLMPD via social media. “We are committed to working closely with Pride STL and event organizers to continue to build our relationship with the LGBTQIA+ community.”

Pride Fest organizers say they will utilize a combination of hired security, both marked and unmarked, in addition to resources from St. Louis police. They also ask people attending to be alert of their surroundings and report any suspicious behavior to security personnel.

Pride Fest is located in Downtown St. Louis in the parks surrounding Soldiers Memorial and across the street from City Hall.

The event will offer a variety of food, drinks and activities, in addition to a parade on Sunday. The parade will begin at noon on Sunday, running from Market Street from 10th to 16th Streets.
