St. Louis forecast: The heat builds

The heat is on. Over the weekend, high temperatures will reach 100 degrees on Sunday afternoon expected to be the hottest day of the year with humidity levels climbing again.

Next week, temperatures remain hot with highs in the mid to upper 90s with only a slim chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms possible beginning on Monday through Wednesday, but most locations seem to remain dry through the week.

Remember all the heat safety tips as we move through heat:

Drink plenty of water.
Take breaks in the A.C.
Never leave pets or kids in cars unattended.
Check on those without A.C.
Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing.
Don’t exercise outdoors during the afternoon.
