Spring break and hail-damaged cars leave rental car shortage

ST. LOUIS – Visitors may be noticing a smaller selection of rental cars available. A combination of spring break travelers and the hail storm last week have dwindled the number of cars to choose from.

Enterprise Rentals said they typically see a rise in reservations following a severe weather event and are transferring vehicles to other locations as needed.

“Enterprise doesn’t have as many cars cause a lot of them were damaged in the storm as well.  That’s actually one of our biggest accounts,” Grey Wilson from GM Dents Express said. “A lot of people needing enterprise vehicles right now and they’re having a hard time keeping up with the demand.”

At Dents Express in Ballwin, technicians have been restoring hail-damaged hoods on vehicles.

“Essentially, when you receive hail damage or get caught in a hail storm, all panels get damaged,” Wilson said. “The hoods and roofs that lay flat are the panels that get damaged more.”
