Smoothie King manager stole $40K from store to buy narcotics: Police

ST. LOUIS – The manager of a Smoothie King store in Florissant is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the store over a lengthy period.

According to the Florissant Police Department’s probable cause statement, the owner of the Smoothie King discovered in February that no cash deposits had been made for several months.

Police claim Ashley Schroeder, the employee responsible for making the deposits on behalf of the store, was keeping the cash for herself.

Schroeder eventually turned herself in and admitted stealing the deposits instead of taking them to the bank.

Police claim Schroeder said she used the money to buy drugs because she was addicted to methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Schroeder with one count of stealing – $25,000 or more. Schroeder was issued a summons to appear in court on July 10.
