LADUE, Mo. — St. Louis County Library announced the grand opening of the new Clark Family Branch, which will be located at 1640 South Lindbergh Blvd.
On Tuesday, July 9, an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the branch will be held at 9 a.m., and the entire branch will be immediately open to the public, according to the county library. The Branch’s Post Event Space was initially opened to the public on June 1 through an event that featured Darius Rucker, a Grammy Award winner and author of the memoir “Life’s Too Short.”
The Clark Family Branch is the final project of the “Your Library Renewed” campaign, which began in 2014. Since that campaign launched, 6 new libraries have been built, and 13 have been completely renovated or expanded.
The branch replaced the former headquarters building and is now the largest branch in the St. Louis County Library District. The branch is named after Bob Clark, the Executive Chairman and Founder of Clayco, who donated $4 million to the project in 2022.
The Clark Family Branch is a two-story building that encompasses 74,000 square feet. On the first floor, the branch will include two fireplaces, comfortable seating, a large browsing collection, and collection of art on display from the Kranzberg Arts Foundation.
The second floor will feature a large playhouse, a fire engine, a brightly colored children’s space, sponsored by Stephany and Richard Kniep, and interactive learning activities such as light tables and a magnetic gear wall. The two large screens will offer educational games and activities.
The branch will also feature the Small Business Center to help small business owners, the Emerson History and Genealogy Department to house large genealogy and local history collections, and a high-tech creative lab that provides teens with a 3-D printer, recording studio, green screen wall and video game room.
Other amenities include 18 private study rooms, an outdoor reading deck, a computer lab, community meeting rooms, a large collection of books and more.
