Rolla pharmacy worker shot during attempted robbery



ROLLA, Mo. – A Rolla man was arrested after he allegedly shot a pharmacy worker during an attempted robbery.

The Rolla Police Department says Justin M. Wonsewitz, 41, was arrested amid the investigation. He faces pending charges of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

Police initially responded to a call around 10 a.m. that a gunman shot an employee of Sinks Pharmacy while trying to steal drugs.

The alleged gunman, later identified as Wonsewitz, fled the pharmacy with some drugs and was seen leaving in a black car. Officers from the Rolla Police Department spotted the vehicle speeding east on 10th Street.

Police pursued the car and eventually forced it to stop. Wonsewitz was arrested without further incident, and no officers were injured.

The victim, a 52-year-old of Rolla, was rushed to a hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Wonsewitz is currently being held in the Phelps County Jail pending formal charges.

The agencies assisting in this incident included the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri S&T Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Rolla City Fire Department, and the Phelps Health Ambulance Crew.
