Police fire at stolen Mercedes, arrest three juveniles in Maplewood



MAPLEWOOD, Mo.– 3 juveniles are in custody after a frightening confrontation between Maplewood police and a group of alleged car thieves.

The incident occurred in the 7200 block of Zephyr around 11:25 p.m. Sunday night, after Maplewood police were alerted of a stolen Mercedes in the area.

When two police officers exited their vehicles to further investigate the scene, the stolen Mercedes accelerated towards the officers at a high rate of speed, leading the officers to discharge their handguns, according to Maplewood police.

As the stolen Mercedes continued down a narrow driveway, the vehicle hit a police vehicle, a concrete barrier and several other parked vehicles before crashing into a fence behind a residence.

Three juveniles were taken into custody after attempting to flee on foot after the crash, according to police. Multiple firearms were recovered from the scene.

No one was injured during the incident.
