Person of interest in custody for bus shooting



The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been requested to assist in an investigation after a double shooting on a MetroBus left two people dead. A person of interest has been placed in police custody. Investigators will be applying for in-custody warrants today.

The shooting happened at 2:30 p.m. in the 8300 block of Airport Road. According to a release, witnesses told police a man fired into the bus.

The victims were taken to an area hospital, where they were both pronounced dead. Their names have not yet been released. No one else was injured on the bus, police said.

A woman who says she is a relative of one of the people who was killed tells us her loved one was a 34-year-old man. She is devastated, saying he was on his way home from getting information about a job and was not the intended target.
