LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. – A junior at Liberty High School in the Wentzville School District earned a perfect score on the ACT college placement exam.
Pranad Balla, a junior, earned a 36 composite score on the ACT. His academic career has been marked by achievements in and out of the classroom.
Balla is enrolled in four advanced placement (AP) classes and is currently ranked first in his class with a weighted GPA of 4.457.
He’s been on the Key Club for the past three years and now serves as the secretary of the club’s MO-ARK board. He serves as the historian of the National Honor Society; is a three-year member of HOSA (Future Health Professionals) and serves as a treasurer; is a three-year member of the Coding Club, in which he also serves as treasurer; is the president and co-founder of the school’s Math Club; and is a two-year member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).
Balla is a member of the school’s junior varsity tennis team, attended the Missouri Scholars Academy last summer, and has been selected to attend Missouri Boys State this June.
The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science scored on a scale of 1–36. A student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores. The score on the ACT’s optional writing test is separate and not counted toward the composite score.
On average, around 0.25% of students who take the ACT achieve a perfect score. In 2023, just over 2,500 out of almost 1.39 million students who took the ACT scored a 36 on the exam.
