Pedestrian fatally struck on I-70



BRIDGETON– A stretch of eastbound Interstate 70 in Bridgeton is back open Tuesday morning after being completely closed overnight after a person was struck and killed on the highway.

The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning on I-70 east in Bridgeton, near the McKelvey Road overpass not far from I-270.

The incident involved a large commercial vehicle, likely a tow truck, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol. Authorities say that the vehicle that struck the person stopped and remained on the scene.

The circumstances surrounding what exactly happened are still unclear. The scene cleared not long after 4:30 a.m.
