Ozzie Smith and fans optimistic for Cardinals’ season

ST. LOUIS — It was a fun atmosphere at Ballpark Village Thursday afternoon as fans watched the return of the Cardinals in L.A.

After a rough year last year, fans are hopeful this season will be much better. One person we spoke with thinks the balance between the veterans and young players will really be beneficial to the team.

Another fan we spoke with who was visiting from out of town said they’ve been taking advantage of the great weather by walking around our city and taking in the arch and other various sites.

“We’ve got some veterans on the team. You need some balance between the new guys and the old guys and I think we’re going to do well this year,” said Cardinals fan Julian Deboe.

“We’re going to watch the game. We’re going to hang out. You guys have such a great city. It’s so nice to walk around, go see the arch, watch some baseball, and hang out outside on a nice day. It’s perfect,” said Dan Spehler, a baseball fan visiting from Indiana.

“I’ve always wanted to come to a Cardinals game or just see the stadium so that’s so fun,” said young Cardinals fan Addi McNamara.

Ozzie Smith also spoke with Fox 2 and is hopeful for a great season. He’s looking forward to the home opener at Busch Stadium in a week.
