JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – A state-of-the-art crime lab in the state’s capital city will help a handful of departments to serve Missourians better.
Gov. Mike Parson says the state’s current crime lab is outdated and instead of building five separate labs, the multi-story facility near the old state penitentiary will house five state agencies in hopes of making it a one-stop shop for scientific research and improving community health.
The 208,000-square-foot building is estimated to cost $151 million, being paid for by Federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol also says with the new crime lab, they will now have room to offer internships to college students.
The new lab is expected to be completed in October 2026.
