ST. LOUIS – A man allegedly threatened to “[seven-letter expletive] kill” a judge and jury Thursday in connection with Daniel Riley’s guilty verdict and now faces a felony charge.
Prosecutors have charged Erick Buntyn, 34, of Madison, Illinois, with one count of tampering with a judicial officer.
Riley was convicted Thursday of several felonies in a crash that led to Janae Edmondson, an out-of-town teenager, losing her legs in February 2023.
According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, authorities responded to a call for a suspicious person sometime after Thursday’s verdict. A man, later identified as Buntyn, reportedly “had an audible outburst in the courtroom” before he went into a hallway.
Per court documents, a deputy sheriff in the hallway allegedly heard these remarks from Buntyn:
“[Four-letter expletive] the judge and jury, they are all racists, if I see any of them outside, I’m going to [seven-letter expletive] kill them.”
Authorities issued a warrant for Buntyn’s arrest on Thursday and ordered him to jail without bond, per Missouri court records.
Court documents indicate that Buntyn also has pending felony cases for harassment and drug possession in Illinois.
