Jennings man charged in son’s shooting death

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Jennings man is accused of shooting and killing his teenage son last month following an argument.

The shooting happened just before 6:20 p.m. on January 24 in the 9000 block of Halls Ferry Road, near the Halls Ferry Circle in north St. Louis City.

According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis County Police Department, officers responded to a call at that location. Officers reached out to their counterparts with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

City police said a teenager had been found shot in the street and was taken to a local hospital.

The victim, Isaiah Walker, succumbed to his injuries on January 27. He was 16. Walker lived approximately a third of a mile away on Cottonwood Drive.

Investigators claim Isaiah was arguing with his father, Carl Walker Jr., inside their home. The two left the residence in Carl’s vehicle. A short time later, they were walking back to their home when Carl took out a gun and shot his son in the head.

Carl was seen hiding a magazine for a .45-caliber handgun and clothing in a trash barrel. Those items were later recovered.

Police claim Carl admitted to shooting his son after being taken into custody.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Carl Walker Jr. with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Walker remains jailed on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
