Interstate 70 shut down due to trailer fire in St. Charles County

ST. CHARLES COUNTY – A trailer fire shut down lanes on westbound Highway Interstate 70 for an extended period of time in St. Charles County on Thursday morning.

All lanes of westbound I-70 at the 208-mile mark are currently blocked off due to a jack-knifed tractor trailer that also caught fire, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the westbound lanes may be shut down for several hours for extinguishment and to remove the vehicles from the area.

Westbound traffic is currently being diverted to Route Z and onto Outer Road. Troopers advise drivers to use alternate routes as they work to get one lane open as soon as possible.
