HAZMAT spill closes Interstate 57 in Franklin County, Illinois



FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. – Crews are working to clear the scene of a HAZMAT spill Friday morning on Interstate 57 in Franklin County, Illinois.

Illinois State Police says traffic from the northbound and southbound directions is being diverted onto Illinois Route 37.

A semi rolled over Friday morning, leading to HAZMAT concerns and traffic delays throghout southern Illinois. The spill happened near Milepost 68 near Benton, Illinois.

Drivers are encouraged to used alternate routes.
