Florissant man charged in carjacking, dealership burglary

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Florissant man will face trial for a carjacking and break-in at a dealership earlier this year.

According to probable cause statements from the Normandy and Ellisville police departments, the carjacking took place on January 15 at the BP gas station in the 1700 block of South Florissant Road.

Police said the victim was at the gas station when a blue BMW parked next to his 2023 Chevrolet Silverado and an armed man got out and demanded the victim drop his backpack and car keys. The victim complied and the armed man drove off in the victim’s truck with the blue BMW following. The truck was found abandoned in St. Louis City that same day.

The break-in at the dealership happened on January 21, police said.

At 3:35 a.m., Ellisville police were notified of a burglary in progress at David Taylor Ellisville CDJR. When officers arrived, four individuals ran from the business, got into a blue BMW, and sped off. Investigators determined a paving stone was used to smash a glass door. The burglars stole four car key fobs.

On February 1, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department received word that a 2017 blue BMW 330 was reported stolen out of Springfield, Illinois, on Dec. 6, 2023. Police found the BMW near the location where the stolen Silverado was found.

Investigators claim Montez Moore’s phone was still synched to the BMW. Location data obtained on Moore’s phone indicates the phone was located at the scene of the BMW theft, as well as the scene of the robbery, the dealership break-in, and where the BMW was abandoned.

Moore was arrested on March 15.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Moore with second-degree burglary, stealing, second-degree property damage, first-degree robbery, vehicle hijacking, and two counts of armed criminal action. Moore remains jailed on a $250,000 bond. If he posts bond, Moore will be ordered to wear a GPS monitor.
