DoorDash driver robbed, threatened during delivery



ST. LOUIS – A teenager is in custody for threatening and robbing a DoorDash driver at gunpoint while making a delivery last month in the city’s Vandeventer neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the robbery took place on June 25 in the 4300 block of West Belle Place.

Police said Charles Burston III, 18, and others waited for the driver to arrive, then held the man up and stole his 2008 Dodge Caliber.

Burston was taken into custody a short time later. Police said Burston fought against officers to avoid arrest.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Burston with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and resisting arrest for a felony. Burston has been detained without bond and is scheduled for a detention hearing Wednesday afternoon His next court date is July 29 for a preliminary hearing.
