ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis man is charged with fatally shooting a woman over the weekend in the Tower Grove neighborhood.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on March 30 just before 4 a.m. on Arsenal Avenue between Louisiana Avenue and South Compton.
Police arrived to find a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The as-yet-unidentified victim was 25.
Officers detained Jazzmyn Watford at the scene as their primary suspect.
The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Watford with second-degree domestic assault. Prosecutors had considered charges for first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Watford remains jailed without bond.
