Car crashes into Gus’s Pretzels, causes damage

ST. LOUIS — Gus’s Pretzels was struck by a black Ford Focus around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 27th. The impact left the car on the sidewalk, surrounded by bricks, with a gaping hole in the building.

The 23-year-old who crashed into the building fled the scene, but police later arrested her. She was taken to a nearby hospital.

Photos of the crash are circulating on Reddit.com. The gas station across from the eatery’s location at 1820 Arsenal St. in St. Louis captured the vehicle crashing into the building on camera.

Our partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch interviewed the owner, Gus Koebbe III, who seemed to be in good spirits despite the damage to his building. There is no word on when Gus’ Pretzel Shop will reopen for business.
