ST. LOUIS – Thousands of people lined Market Street on Sunday to watch and support the St. Louis LBGTQ+ community.
But the St. Louis Grand Pride Parade got off to a rocky start when protesters shut the event down right after it began.
A group of anti-war, pro-Palestine protesters formed a chain to block Market Street. They are opposed to Boeing’s sponsorship of the parade, as they produce bombs and munitions used by Israel.
St. Louis Police claim they called for protesters to clear the way multiple times. When the group didn’t disperse, police started making arrests. They had to cut through PVC pipe and chains that the protesters used to link arms. The parade finally resumed.
