After monthslong search, Green Park hires new city clerk who once worked for Crestwood – St. Louis Call Newspapers

After months of searching for the just-right fit, the City of Green Park hired Theresa Pfyl as its new city clerk. She began the position and attended her first Green Park Board of Aldermen meeting on June 17.

“It’s been a busy day. We want to welcome you, Theresa,” Mayor Tim Thuston said at the meeting. “A great addition to our staff.”

Since the resignation of former city administrator/city clerk James Mello in October 2023, the city had been searching to fill the position. After months of no success, the board decided in April to amend the city code, removing the requirement to have a city administrator form of government, so it could instead focus on hiring a city clerk.

“I think redefining this will open our opportunities up for more people, more candidates not willing to take on the big job of handling what we can have our accountant do and what a city administrator does,” Thuston said at the board’s April meeting. “We’ll have more of a city clerk working hand in hand with Diane (DeLonjay, deputy city clerk).”

This proved effective as Pfyl, who has 15 years of past city clerk experience, was subsequently hired. According to her LinkedIn, Pfyl worked as the deputy city clerk in Crestwood from October 2012 until October 2018. She then worked as the city clerk in the City of Calverton Park in North County.

Pfyl is a member of the Missouri City Clerk and Finance Officers Association and has obtained Missouri registered city clerk, or MRCC, certification and certified municipal clerk, or CMC, certification. Additionally, she is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and has been involved in a number of Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Association and International Institute of Municipal Clerks boards and commissions.

“I look forward to serving the community of Green Park,” Pfyl said.
