Woman killed in shooting involving off-duty St. Louis Airport officer
ST. LOUIS – A force investigation unit is investing after a woman was killed in a shooting involving an off-duty police officer from the St. Louis Airport Police Department.
The shooting happened around midnight Saturday on Warwick Avenue, off North Euclid in the Kingsway East neighborhood, less than half a mile east of Sherman Park.
Officers with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department initially responded to a hospital after a report that two women were shot.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 23-year-old woman was in an altercation with a 26-year-old woman. At some point, the older woman pulled a gun from her vehicle and shot the other woman in the leg.
After that, the younger woman’s boyfriend allegedly drew his own weapon and shot the 26-year-old woman, who died a short time later.
Investigators say the 28-year-old boyfriend is an officer for the St. Louis Airport Police Department who was off-duty. Police say he was not injured in the situation and is cooperating with authorities on information.
Additional details are limited. FOX 2 will update as more information becomes available.
